Sony has officially announced the launch of the newest iteration of its hit gaming console, the PlayStation 5 (PS5) Pro, on Nov. 7.
With the PS5 Pro’s release, it is set to be Sony’s most expensive console ever at $699.
It promises to blur the gap between console and PC gaming, with the PS5’s graphics processing unit (GPU) and central processing unit having enough power to rival those of gaming laptops and PCs.
The PS5 Pro reportedly comes with an AMD RDNA 3-based GPU that rivals PC builds with AMD Ryzen 7 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super.
It promises the best graphics performance alongside smoother frames and advanced ray tracing for its games.
Additionally, Sony is launching PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling technology that uses machine learning to sharpen and improve image quality, adding detail to its games.
Moreover, the PS5 includes Wi-Fi 7, enhanced image quality support for select PS4 games, and a new performance-improving Game Boost feature for over 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games that are playable on the PS5 Pro.
In spite of all the PS5 Pro upgrades, the console is sold disc-less, with the option to purchase available disc drives ($79.99) separately.
Sony has been all about digital sales latelymega pari, so it isn’t a surprise for them to focus on discless consoles. We’ll more likely see this as the standard in future editions.
