MANILAmega pari, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has intensified operational readiness in all 44 CAAP-managed airports to address the expected surge in passenger traffic during the Yuletide season.

The CAAP said the preparations are aligned with the Department of Transportation (DOTr)’s Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2024, which will run from Dec. 20 to Jan. 3, 2025.

“Our mission is to provide passengers with a seamless and efficient travel experience during this season. Through strong collaboration with our partners and implementation of stringent measures, we are steadfast in ensuring the highest standards of safety, security and convenience for all,” CAAP director general Manuel Antonio Tamayo said.

Malasakit help desks will be available at all airports as well as security personnel and medical teams to assist local and foreign travelers.

The CAAP said it would coordinate its actions with the DOTr, local authorities and key agencies, including the police Aviation Security Unit, Office of Transportation Security, Department of Tourism and Civil Aeronautics Board as well as airline operators.

The partnerships intend to streamline check-in procedures for greater efficiency and security, the CAAP said.

It reminded travelers to follow regulations to avoid delays, including the rules in bringing prohibited items. Travelers are also advised to monitor their belongings at all times.

Authorities reminded travelers to avoid making bomb jokes, which can disrupt flights and result in the arrest of the prankster.

In 2022, the CAAP reported a total of two million passengers from Dec. 1 to 31, which was higher than the 785,910 travelers recorded during the peak period covering Jan. 1 to 31.

In 2023, the CAAP recorded 2.4 million passengers from Dec. 1 to 31 and 2.3 million from Jan. 1 to 31.

Noting the increasing number of air travelersmega pari, the CAAP committed to ensure safe and hassle-free journeys this holiday season.
