MANILA, Philippines — All Saints’ Day this year will have mixed weather nationwide, with chances of rain and humidity in Luzon and Visayas and clear skies in Mindanao.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said there is a high chance of rain in the western section of Luzon due to the extension or trough of Severe Tropical Storm Leon (international name: Kong-rey), which left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) early Friday morning.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja noted that Leon is no longer directly affecting any part of the country.

“Expect rainy weather due to the trough or extension of Leon. The probability of rain is high in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, so be careful of the threats of heavy rains that may cause flooding and landslides,” warned Estareja during a morning weathercast.

“In the rest of Luzon, here in northern Luzon, the rest of central Luzon, and Mimaropa, there will be slightly cloudy to cloudy skies while generally improved weather will be observed here in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and a large part of the Bicol region,” he added.

According to Estareja, fair and humid weather conditions will prevail in Metro Manila, although localized thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon or evening.

For Visayas, rain may also be anticipated, while Mindanao may experience sunny weather this All Saints’ Day, Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, the state weather agency said one to two cyclones may enter the PAR in November.

“If we look at the image, cyclones that form in November often make landfall in Luzon, Visayas, up to here in the Caraga region and the chances of it deviating in direction or recurving here in the Philippine sea are diminishing,” Estareja said, adding that in terms of intensity, Pagasa is not ruling out the possibility that another cyclone will reach the typhoon or super typhoon category this month.
