Miss Grand International 2024 second runner-up Thae Su Nyeim from Myanmar drew buzz among pageant fans after she was seen sobbing while Myanmar national director Htoo Ant Lwin was aggressively removing her sash and crown after the coronation of winners.

Thae was standing at a platform on the stage when her team escorted her down and carried her, as shown in the video shared by global pageant platform Missosology on Facebook on Saturday, Oct. 26. Htoo then snatched the crown from Thae’s head and stripped away her sash while she was being carried by one of their team members.

In a succeeding instance, Htoo, who was assisting a sobbing Thae while walking, pointed and shouted at the person taking a video of them.

Htoo then went live on his page and apparently talked about the results that were supposedly unfair toward Thae. He further made several allegations against Miss Grand International organization, and declared that Myanmar will no longer join the said pageant.

However, hours later, he shared a Facebook post again that translates to: “I have calmed down. Will I renew the contract?”

Miss Grand International organization has yet to comment on the matter as of this writing.

Rachel Gupta of India was crowned as the 2024 titleholder at the coronation night held in Thailand on Friday, Oct. 25. Philippine bet CJ Opiaza emerged as the first runner-up.
