MANILA, Philippines — The University of the Philippines (UP) was named the country’s top university in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings 2025.
According to QS, UP ranked the highest among Philippine universities in its latest assessment, having taken the 20th spot out of 196 universities in Southeast Asia and 86th spot out of 984 in Asia overall.
Article continues after this advertisementHowever, UP’s spot in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025 is a slip from its placement last year – at 78th out of 855 universities in Asia.

A university’s academic reputation, international research network, learning experience and graduate employability were among the criteria QS assessed to rank the institutions.
